There are so many opportunities for seniors in the Hutt Valley to learn new things, meet new people and get out and about, no matter what condition you're in!

Probus' is a Rotary club service. Their one-liner is "retire from work, not life". They offer member benefits such as international and domestic travel, day trips, luncheons and plenty of opportunities to meet new people. There are lots of groups within the Hutt Valley. If it's difficult for you to get out and about, you may like to start with the health page to find the information and support you need to improve the quality of your retirement years.

The Upper Hutt YMCA runs regular four-week long programmes at a cost of $30 all-up (two sessions per week). Held on Mondays and Thursdays at 11am at the Upper Hutt YMCA. Hutt City Libraries will tell you everything you need to know about modern devices!

Introduction to eBooks with Hutt City Libraries. Learn the difference between an eReader and a tablet, and how to download eBooks from the library website. SeniorNet Hutt City Inc runs computer courses from beginner to advanced. They have different courses on offer including Microsoft Word, using the internet, email, using a computer filing system, spreadsheets, calendar making, using digital cameras and lots more. Ooh - learn your family's secrets!

Members of the the New Zealand Society of Genealogists are available to assist you with family history enquires at Petone Library on the first and third Wednesday of each month, from 10.00am – 12.00noon, and the first Saturday of each month from 10.00am - 12.00noon.

At Upper Hutt Library a Family History Group meets every third Sunday of each month from 1-2pm in the Rotary Lounge. There's also a Writing History group from 1.30-3.00pm every Friday.
